Depth Of Field Magazine proudly presents the “Hip-Hop And Comics: Cultures Combining” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 9th
This hour-long program brings together musicians, visual artists, and comic creators to discuss the common bonds and shared inspirations between two uniquely American cultures

On Thursday July 9th, at 7:oopm, Depth Of Field Magazine is proud to present Hip-Hop And Comics: Cultures Combining at San Diego Comic-Con.  This program looks at how comic books and Hip-Hop have grown from modest origins to achieve global impact, and how they have inspired and influenced each other in the process – not just within rap music and comic books, but also through skate/street fashion, graffiti, animation, breakdancing, kung fu films, and other related expressive forms.

Depth Of Field editor Patrick A. Reed will moderate, and a visual presentation will accompany the conversation.

Panelists include:

  • Murs (MC and producer; co-creator of the Yumiko, Curse Of The Merch Girl graphic novel)
  • Deity (muralist, street artist, designer, member of Few & Far art collective)
  • Kenny Keil (co-creator of Rhyme Travelers; illustrator for Mad Magazine, Big Boi’s “Mashup Mondays”)
  • Ted Lange IV (creator/artist of Warp Zone)
  • Turner Lange (author/illustrator of The Adventures of Wally Fresh)
  • David Walker (author of Shaft’s Revenge, Dynamite’s Shaft comic, and DC’s Cyborg series)
  • Matthew Rosenberg (head of publicity for Black Mask Studios, co-creator of Ghostface Killah’s 12 Reasons To Die and 36 Seasons)
  • and other special guests

The panel runs one hour, and will be held in Room 29AB of the San Diego Convention Center.  For the latest information on the Hip-Hop And Comics panel, please check www.depthoffieldmagazine.com or @depthzine on Twitter.
