C2E2 2013: The weekend in words and photos.

After the wonderful time we had at C2E2 in 2012, it was never in doubt that we’d return to Chicago this year for another round of multi-media excitement (and delicious deep-dish pizza).  We looked at art, attended programming, presented a Comics & Pop Music panel, stared in awe at elaborate costumes, caught up with old friends, and made some wonderful new ones. Everywhere we looked, we found talented creators and amazing work.  Crowds flocked to Art Baltazar and Franco both at their Artist Alley table, and at the booth for their company Aw Yeah Comics, where they premiered the first two issues of their debut title (appropriately called Aw Yeah Comics).  Black Mask Studios set up a pair of tables side-by-side, showcasing their new 12 Reasons To Die and Liberator series.  Sisters Catherine and Sarah Satrun were on hand, selling artwork (including one print that quickly became the viral hit of the show).  Writers and pencilers and colorists and publishers and fans mixed, mingled, and enjoyed the vibe of mutual respect and shared excitement. It was an all-around wonderful weekend.  Thanks so much to the staff and crew of ReedPOP and McCormick Place for being so helpful and friendly, and to all the artists, creators, publishers, and fans for making it such a wonderful show.
