Depth Of Field Presents Hip-Hop & Comics: Cultures Combining At San Diego Comic-Con 2014!

Depth Of Field proudly presents the “Hip-Hop And Comics: Cultures Combining” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, July 24th at 7pm
this hour-long program brings together renowned comic creators and Hip-Hop luminaries to discuss ties between the two forms, upcoming projects, and shared inspirations

On Thursday, July 24th, from 7:00-8:00pm, Depth Of Field Magazine is proud to present Hip-Hop And Comics: Cultures Combining, a panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con.  This program looks at how comic books and Hip-Hop have grown from modest origins to achieve global impact, and how they have inspired and influenced each other in the process – not just within rap music and comic books, but also through skate/street fashion, graffiti, animation, breakdancing, kung fu films, and other related expressive forms.

Patrick Reed (editor of Depth Of Field Magazine) will moderate, and panelists include:

Mix Master Mike (legendary turntablist and producer, New Music Seminar and DMC World Champion DJ, member of The Beastie Boys and The Invisibl Skratch Piklz)

Murs (renowned MC; co-creator of the ‘Yumiko, Curse Of The Merch Girl’ graphic novel)

David Brothers (editor for Image Comics; media journalist; co-founder of 4thletter.net)

Matthew Rosenberg (writer and co-creator of Ghostface Killah’s ’12 Reasons To Die’)

Kenny Keil (co-creator of Rhyme Travelers; illustrator for Mad Magazine, Big Boi’s “Mashup Mondays”)

Meme (acclaimed graffiti and street artist, founder of Few & Far art collective)

Deiety (muralist, street artist, designer, member of Few & Far art collective)

Random AKA Mega Ran (MC, DJ, producer)

Ted Lange IV (creator/artist of Warp Zone)

Turner Lange (author/illustrator of The Adventures of Wally Fresh)

-and other special guests.

The panel runs one hour, and will be held in Room 23ABC of the San Diego Convention Center.

(And later that evening, Depth Of Field will be presenting the official “Hip-Hop & Comics Afterparty” from 9PM-2AM at The Office, a famed hotspot at 3936 30th Street in San Diego’s historic North Park district.  The party will feature music provided by DJ Patrick A. Reed / resident DJ Myson King / special surprise guests, and drink specials for Comic-Con attendees.)
