“Comics And Pop Music” panel at C2E2 2012.

This weekend, April 13-15, McCormick Place in Chicago will play host to C2E2 (the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo) and we will be there on Friday, April 13 at 6:30pm, in room N426b, to present and moderate a panel that ties into our “pop music comics” series. We’ve gathered a selection of professionals to discuss the ties between music and graphic storytelling, their common inspirations, the creative and commercial potential in combining the two media, and the history of pop comics– from the Beatlemania tie-ins of the 60s to today’s fan-favorite titles. This panel includes Dan Parent (artist, Archie Meets Kiss, Archie Comics), Chris Powell (executive director of business development, Diamond Comics distributors),Charles Soule (author: Twenty-Seven, Image Comics),  and Jen VanMeter (author, Hopeless Savages, Oni Press). We’re really excited to be involved in this event and conducting a conversation with this great group.
